Pressure builds for action on global warming


IT WAS a busy week for climate change campaigners. First, a gathering of Nobel laureates at St James’s Palace, London, on 26 to 28 May declared governments worldwide must take bold, quick action to avert catastrophe. Then the following day former UN secretary general Kofi Annan piled on the pressure, throwing his weight behind the first major report on the effect of climate change on humans.
